Julia trained in Textile Design at Chelsea School of Art, London, and later as a Theatrical Costumier, working for several years as a freelance costume designer. She later moved on to develop her own designs using techniques such as applique, quilting and tucking with an interest in 'art textiles'.
She exhibited with the group 'In Stitches' for several years in various London venues and was later selected to exhibit in exhibitions including:

Julia's work has developed from an interest in all forms of nature and the natural environment, from river to sea, and tries to capture a sense of movement and light. She works to a high level of craftsmanship to produce unique pieces of work.

She has also worked on freelance decorative textiles for:

- Victoria Bain Embroidered Textiles Ltd, London. Bespoke applique embroidery, cushions, covers and curtain panels. Including projects for Rocco Forte Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, Dragons of Walton Street, Super yachts, and luxury property developers.
